2024 Paris Olympics: My Ultimate Guide and Experience
Traveling from Miami, Florida, to the 2024 Paris Olympics was an adventure I eagerly anticipated. Having last visited Paris in December 2022, I was thrilled to return, especially for such a historic event. My previous trip had left me in awe of the city’s charm, and one discovery that stood out was how intuitive and efficient the Paris metro system is—a feature that made navigating the bustling city during the Olympics even more enjoyable this time around.
Make it stand out
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
As the 2024 Paris Olympics approached, the excitement of the journey began long before I set foot in France. One of the most intriguing challenges was figuring out how to pack 12 days’ worth of clothing into nothing more than a bookbag. Packing cubes were a lifesaver, helping me maximize space and stay organized. The night before my flight, I made a quick stop at Old Navy to grab some Team USA merch—because no trip to the Olympics is complete without showing a little patriotic pride!
After a long but necessary flight across the Atlantic, I finally touched down in Paris at 1:30 pm. Eager to jump into the Olympic excitement, I quickly took a taxi straight to my hotel, where I dropped off my single carry-on item—thanks to those trusty packing cubes! Without wasting any time, I headed to the nearest metro station, determined to make it to our first Olympic event on time. The city was alive with Olympic energy, and I couldn’t wait to be part of it.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it on time to our first event, women’s indoor volleyball, but it turned out to be a valuable learning experience. We quickly realized how the Olympics are a blend of organized chaos. Determined not to miss out again, we arrived more than an hour early for the trampoline gymnastics event the next day, navigating multiple security checks before settling into our seats. On our third day, we enjoyed two events: a thrilling women’s soccer quarter-final at Parc des Princes, where Team USA secured a win, followed by an incredible beach volleyball match with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. Which was an absolute highlight, blending sports with Paris’s iconic scenery.
Reflecting on my time at the 2024 Paris Olympics, I can’t help but appreciate the whirlwind of experiences, from navigating the city’s efficient metro system to witnessing incredible athletic performances. Despite missing our first event, we quickly adapted and soaked in the Olympic spirit, whether cheering for Team USA or enjoying a volleyball match beneath the Eiffel Tower. And, of course, no trip to Paris is complete without indulging in delicious éclairs and fresh baguettes—just another reminder of why this city remains so special to me.
